FROM THE CHARITY COMMITTEE 2009
Today, November 25th, we visited with some sponsors the school for disabled children in Çiğli. Present sponsors: On behalf of Fokker: Mrs. Cerina Idema, Mrs. Ipek Kor and Mrs. Serife Durmaz. On behalf of BASF: Mr. Leon van Mullekom. Partly private, partly on behalf of Mc Cormick: Mr. Askin Bey.
The Charity Garden Party, held on May 24th of this year in the beautiful garden of the Swissotel, was a big success.
The total amount we finally raised, inclusive the donations in materials, is TL 13.048,-
We raised money for a new unit and for new furniture in this building.
After the party it seemed that the school was not able to obtain a building permit and a permit to stay overnight with a few children, so the parents will have some time for their selves and for the other kids. They are still trying to get the permits and we do hope they will be successful in the near future.
The International Rotary promised that they will look after the necessary things for this building and also for the furniture.
Due to this fact we spoke with our contact person Lise Sur. We decided to change the plans and instead of investing money in the new building we agreed to invest in the infra structure of the school and if possible also in items they urgently needs.
Following items were donated:
- 2 airco’s incl. instalments
- 2 computers DELL 540ST A 73U3
- new toilets (adults & children)
- 2 galosh machines
- 2 HP Photosmart-all-in-one printers,
2 USB cables and 25 cartridges
- 7 school tables, 8 x printing paper
